AWA Friday Newsletter - November 20, 2020

The AWA office will be closed next Thursday and Friday (Nov. 26 and 27) for the Thanksgiving holiday so that our employees can spend Thanksgiving with their families. We appreciate your understanding and hope you have a safe, healthy, and happy Thanksgiving!

 
Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2

Earlier this year after COVID broke out the USDA announced a Coronavirus Food Assistance Program available to farmers and ranchers who had been directly impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. That program was available May 26, 2020 through September 11, 2020.

President Donald J. Trump and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue announced on September 17 that USDA will implement an expansion of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.

You can learn more about applying for Coronavirus Food Assistance Program 2 (CFAP2) by visiting farmers.gov/cfap2.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency will accept CFAP 2 applications from September 21 through December 11, 2020.

We are now accepting advertising submissions for our 2021 Breeders Guide. Distributed to all new members and featured at shows, conferences and under the Where to Buy section of the AWA website, the Breeders Guide is one of the best ways to get your brand seen.

Annual General Membership Meeting and Director Voting
 
This year's Virtual Annual General Membership meeting went smoothly and was well attended. We thank everyone for their patience as we worked through our first virtual meeting and look forward to getting back to a live event next September in Fort Collins, CO hosted by Colorado State University.
 
During the AGM a great slate of candidates were nominated to serve as AWA Board of Directors. Voting will begin on Monday, November 9, 2020 and last through Monday, November 30, 2020 by 5:00 PM Pacific time.
 
AWA members in good standing eligible to vote as of September 30, 2020 will receive an email from Simply Voting with your login information. Be sure to check your spam and junk folders if you don’t see it in your inbox. You can login to your DigitalBeef account and check the email address we have for you. If you need to make any changes contact the office right away.
 
Candidates for the 3 available director positions are (in alphabetical order) as follows.

AWA 2020 Virtual Conference Presentations

With a successful Annual General Membership meeting wrapped up, the virtual conference presentations are now available for viewing. If you registered for the AGM you should have already received your login, password and link to the presentations. If you have not yet registered, there is still plenty of time to experience them.

After clicking the link above and entering your contact info, the AWA will send you an invoice for $100 for the conference registration fee. Once paid, you'll receive a login, password and a link to the virtual presentations by our conference speakers. The presentation videos will go live October 30, 2020 and will be available to view on demand until Jan 1, 2021. Please contact the AWA with any questions.


Protecting your DNA Samples

We sometimes get DNA samples here in the office like this one in the photo here. This is lost opportunity by trying to save a few dollars and the sample is now gone. Take extra precaution to protect your DNA sample submissions.
